Real Wedding at The Mount: Maria and Thom - The Mount

This wedding is a real life fairytale! Maria and Thom transformed The Mount into what it used to be: a gilded age mansion lit up with the love of friends and family, the energy of a great party, and style that Wharton herself would be envious of. Just wait til you get to the bridal portraits by the talented Alicia Daw, you won’t believe it’s 2014 and not 1925.

Maria was particularly awesome to work with because of her talent with design and her laid back attitude. Due to her years of experience acting and directing theatre she had a clear vision for the day and knew just how to make it come to life. After coaching actors through many opening nights she had the ability to let things happen naturally and not get too anxious about it. The show must go on! And it did. And it was gorgeous.

I don’t think I can do justice to the theme of the day, so I’m going to let Maria share her vision:

“I was picturing a wedding that was Great Gatsby meets A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Mount couldn’t be more perfect. The grounds are like something out of a fairytale, and then the mansion is refined elegance. We wanted it to feel like we were throwing a 1920’s decadent summer dinner party!”

“I spent many Summers in the Berkshires working, and Thom and I spent a lot of weekends there as well, but we had never targeted it for our wedding. I had already viewed about 18 outdoor reception venues when I just happened to be in the Berkshires and dropped by The Mount on family day. The moment I walked onto the grounds, I knew this was the place I wanted to have my wedding! I hoped Thom would feel the same way. After strolling down the winding path and seeing the mansion before us, Thom said “I love it!” before we even got inside.”
