  • House Tour (60 minutes)

This tour reveals the history of The Mount from its building to its restoration, and chronicles Wharton’s life and her remarkable achievements and legacy.
  • Garden Tour (45 minutes)

The garden tour recounts the history of the estate’s structures and plantings, discusses the influence of Wharton’s 1904 publication, Italian Villas and Their Gardens, on her landscape at The Mount, and reflects Wharton’s passion for gardens and beauty. This tour involves walking and some stairs. For groups with mobility issues, we offer a formal garden talk on the terrace.
  • Group Ghost Tours (90 minutes)

By popular demand, The Mount now offers private after-dark group ghost tours. Prepare for a night of creaky floors, slamming doors, and ghostly fun as you tour the most haunted parts of the estate. This spooky tour is not recommended for 12 and under.
  • Book Clubs

What better place to talk of books and of writers than in the home of one of the best? We will create a sparkling day for your club; with a reserved spot on The Terrace, refreshments of your choice, and a skilled Wharton interpreter to lead your tour or discussion. Prices vary by package. Be sure to leave plenty of time to browse through our bookstore’s large selection of Wharton titles, garden and design books, and specialty gifts.
  • Sculpture Tour

We offer group tours of our property-wide outdoor exhibit, curated by SculptureNow. Choose a 45-minute tour of selected pieces in conjunction with a house or garden tour or a 90-minute Expert Tour led by an exhibiting artist.  This tour involves extensive walking over uneven terrain. Prices will vary by option.
