I absolutely love it when a couple adds touches of their own personality and uniqueness to their wedding, so I was pretty excited when I was able to get in touch with Michelle Nacheman who married her now-husband Scott at The Mount in 2012. They incorporated so many original details and made sure to honor their beliefs as well. Michelle is a paramedic for the Chicago Fire Department and Scott is a structural engineer as well as a firefighter, so they wanted their shared profession to have it’s place in their big day. The way they did it is both funny and touching, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise so scroll on to see some swoon-worthy photos by Kris Royal Photography and read about Michelle’s favorite moments of the day…
From Michelle: “I read about the Mount when I was researching the Berkshires. Scott and his family have been going there for over 30 years. They have a home in Becket. We knew we wanted to get married in the Berkshires in the fall. I also have truly always wanted to get married in a beautiful home with beautiful gardens. When I found the Mount I was speechless.”
“I loved getting dressed in Edith Wharton’s bedroom suite. It was so symbolic and surreal. ”
“One of our favorite moments of the day was immediately after the outdoor ceremony, it is Jewish tradition that the couple have what is called the yichud. Yichud is a brief seclusion where the couple can spend a few moments together before joining their guests. We loved the sewing room with the pop culture exhibit. We went up there, had a couple hors d’oeuvres and of course wrote on the chalkboard. We wrote in French, entre nous. It has significant meaning for us. As we sat for a moment, we could he below the band playing and sounds of laughter. It was like the house was truly alive. ”
“The terrace was lit up and glowing with string lights and couldn’t of looked more elegant. It actually started raining and even the raindrops on the side covers of the terrace glistened.”
“The drawing room ceiling restoration is beautiful and I loved that everyone was dancing underneath it.”
“I wanted everyone to have their own mini wedding cakes. Before they were individually served we displayed them so beautifully.”
“I surprised Scott by going to the Lenox Fire Department during the days before the wedding. The guys on shift agreed to stop by the Mount, as a favor. Scott was super surprised and we got great pictures with the engine and guys.”
Michelle wanted “every single detail to be pretty, meaningful and tied in with the Mount,” and I think she definitely succeeded. Not to mention that that might be the cutest father-daughter dance photo I have ever seen! Congratulations Michelle and Scott.
Cheers,
Grace
