Real Engagement at The Mount: Allie and Matt

I’m so happy to be collaborating with the lovely Tricia McCormack to bring you this engagement shoot at The Mount. Allie and Matt joined us this winter to celebrate their engagement with a classic and romantic photo shoot with a 1920’s inspired style.  Allie and Matt were engaged in late summer of 2013.  The engagement came as a sweet surprise after traveling all over Europe and Asia together. Allie and Matt both felt that The Mount is one of the most treasured historical spots in the town of Lenox.  No better place for a fun and vintage styled engagement shoot.  Keep scrolling for some stunning shots and more info on Tricia and her connection to the Berkshires.

So, Tricia, can you tell us a little bit about your background and what brought you to the Berkshires?

I feel there is a special quality to the Berkshires that few other places can provide.  My family are all New Yorkers and I was born there too, my Dad decided to move us out of the city and randomly chose Lenox, MA as our new home when I was 4 years old. I grew up in this special place but moved away after college. I moved back and forth from Boston and New York until my husband and I decided to purchase a home and begin a family here in the Berkshires.

What is your philosophy when it comes to wedding photography?

I’m passionate about capturing the range of emotions expressed on a wedding day and appreciate the carefully planned details that go into creating a such a special day with the most important people in your life. I strive to tell the story without words and to give each couple images to treasure for a lifetime.

What makes the Berkshires such a great place for a destination wedding?

I love sharing with my clients what my personal experience was having a destination wedding in the Berkshires. My husband and I were living in Manhattan at the time and our friends and family were traveling from New York and Boston predominately. We were married at Cranwell and Lenox provided the perfect destination to bring everyone together. Our guests loved exploring the town and taking in the sights but they also felt like it was a weekend getaway to celebrate with us and their friends and/or family. It was great knowing that our guests were taking a fun excursion to the country with us.

What draws you to shooting at The Mount?

The Mount exudes the elegance and the rich history of this area. I’m in awe of Edith Wharton’s beautiful home and it’s gardens and how it’s tucked into the landscape of Lenox. Photographing couples here brings out romance and a feeling of style, sophistication and charm. There is so much intricate architecture and textures and the light from the west facing windows in the Gallery is just remarkable. It’s easy to fall in love with the the European design of the gardens, being there makes you feel like you are in a dream. The gardens look amazing in every season and I can speak from experience since I’ve photographed the Mount in all of them.

I love seeing the architecture and landscaping of The Mount used to such romantic effect. I think the mother of American romance, Edith Wharton herself, would be  happy to know so many people express their love and commitment in her beloved home.

Cheers,

Grace
