WordXWord Festival

July 20, 2021

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

It’s a three-day spoken word festival! Each evening is a doubleheader starting with Walkin’ with WordXWord, in which poets present short pieces in response to works in the 2021 SculptureNow exhibition, followed by poetry and storytelling events.

For Accomplice[d], July 20 at 7 PM, WordXWord has challenged poets to step outside of their typically solitary discipline to create and perform collaborative pieces.

WordXWomen, July 21 at 7 PM, will feature the voices of 9 women, spanning seven generations and a broad spectrum of approach and style.

For WXW’s Story Slam on July 22 at 7 PM, storytellers will offer 5-minute true, first-person stories reflecting on the theme “Unsaid.” A story slam is a storytelling competition with volunteer judges from the audience.

The Sculpture Walks portion of the program is from 6:00 to 6:45 PM nightly, and we recommend registering, as spaces are limited.

New to WordXWord this year is the Wild Words Cafe orchestrated by Melissa Cairns. From 5-5:45P each evening all are invited to join in a very social hour. Bring your own snacks, catch up with old friends, make new ones, try your hand at a writing challenge, or just chill out! Plus a poetry-book swap (leave one and/or take one).

Funded by the Amy Clampitt Fund, a fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.

The Mount is a Massachusetts Cultural Council UP designated organization welcoming participants of all disabilities. Please contact The Mount at 413-551-5100 or by email, info@edithwharton.org, to discuss accommodations needed to participate fully in this event.
