Introducing Molly Rideout

Due to the ongoing challenges of travel and sharing space during this time we have elected to host a longer-term remote residency with local writer Molly Rideout (North Adams, MA).  Molly will spend the next several months researching and writing an essay that braids personal experience and local history from the turn of the 20th century, when Edith Wharton built The Mount and lived in Lenox, MA.

Rideout’s residency will culminate with the creation of a handmade book of the finished essay and two public writing installations to be installed in Summer 2021.

We anticipate returning to our traditional residency format for Winter 2022, and hosting multiple writers at The Mount.  Applications will be available in August 2021.  If you would like to be notified when this application is available, please contact us at to be added to the notification list.
