A discussion with The Mount’s 2018 Writers-in-Residence: Elif Batuman, Buzzy Jackson and Kate Reed Petty, moderated by 2017 Writer-in-Residence, Donna M. Lucey
The 2018 Edith Wharton Writers-in-Residence – Elif Batuman, staff writer for The New Yorker and author of The Idiot, Buzzy Jackson, award-winning nonfiction author of Shaking the Family Tree, and Kate Reed Petty, author of forthcoming children’s graphic novel Chasma Knights – will discuss their past and present work, their careers, and their experience writing in the home of Edith Wharton. They will also touch on the legacy of Edith Wharton and her continuing influence on women writers.
Donna M. Lucey is a biographer whose books include Sargent’s Women: Four Lives Behind the Canvas, the New York Times bestselling Archie and Amélie: Love and Madness in the Gilded Age and the award-winning Photographing Montana 1894-1928: The Life and Work of Evelyn Cameron. Lucey’s work as a photo editor and writer has appeared in Time-Life Books, National Geographic Books, People, the New York Times Magazine, Garden and Gun, and Smithsonian. She was awarded two grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, served as a 2017 writer-in-residence at Edith Wharton’s The Mount, and has written a feature-length screenplay based on her Montana book.
