Professional actors bring to life classic short stories!

Enjoy summer afternoons on The Mount’s view-rich Terrace while listening to professional actors read short stories written by Wharton and her contemporaries. Gardens are open for strolling. Wine and other light refreshments are available for purchase.

The readings begin at 5 pm on the Terrace.

On June 27, “A Jury of her Peers” by Susan Glaspell, reader to be announced

On July 11, Mary Anne Grammer will read “The Purloined Letter” by Edgar Allan Poe.

On July 18, Sally-Jane Heit will read “The Mission of Jane” by Edith Wharton.

On July 25,  Marilyn D. Hunter will read “Scarlet Stockings” by Louisa May Alcott.

On August 1, Anne Undeland will read  “The Pretext” by Edith Wharton.

On August 8, Airel Bock  will read  “The New Dress” by Virginia Woolf and “The Necklace” by Guy De Maupassant

On August 15, H. Tod Randolph will read “Europe” by Henry James

On August 22, Gail Ryan will read, “The Quicksand” by Edith Wharton

On August 29,  Joan Combs will read “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
