Things That Grow

Meredith Goldstein in Conversation

March 25, 2021

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Boston Globe columnist Meredith Goldstein has set part of her new novel, Things That Grow, at The Mount and its gardens. She’s also based an entire fictional character on one of the Mount’s real-life tour guides, Marge Cox. How did Marge inspire the fictional Marge? Why was Meredith determined to set part of her story at The Mount after touring the property? Meredith and Marge will have a conversation about art imitating life, how The Mount property inspires writers from all over, and the fact and fiction in Things That Grow, a bittersweet comedy about a Massachusetts teen and her New Yorker uncle who visit beautiful gardens on behalf of their bookworm family matriarch.

The Mount is a Massachusetts Cultural Council UP designated organization welcoming participants of all disabilities. Please contact The Mount at 413-551-5100 or by email, info@edithwharton.org, to discuss accommodations needed to participate fully in this event.
