Pride and Prejudice

“…Jane Austen, of course, wise in her neatness, trim in her sedateness; she never fails, but there are few or none like her.”
            -Edith Wharton, 1925

Celebrate Jane Austen’s birthday and the 200th anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice with narrator Alison Larkin at a Regency tea!

Alison Larkin, the witty and original English American, will present excerpts of her marvelously entertaining new recording of Pride and Prejudice. Guests will enjoy a splendid Regency tea toasting Ms. Austen accompanied by period songs and a bit of Jane Austen trivia.

The new, unabridged recording brings Jane Austen’s most famous novel to sparkling life. A witty and always original voice, Alison Larkin is the perfect vessel to bring Jane Austen’s classically satirical second novel to a new American audience. A singular audio equation, this fresh and hugely entertaining reading from the English American, joined with Austen’s deft satire, results in pure, boundless fun. An original cover by New Yorker cartoonist William Hamilton sets the tone.

To reserve tickets for the event, purchase online or call 413-551-5100. The tea is $15, but attendees are encouraged to take advantage of a special $40 admission fee that includes a copy of the eight-CD audiobook (list price $48).
