The Gardens

Garden Tours

From June through October, The Mount will offer regularly-scheduled garden tours to the public, weather permitting. Each 45-minute guided tour will lead visitors through The Mount’s three acres of formal gardens, which were strongly influenced by Wharton’s travels in Europe. Visitors will discover Wharton’s great passion for her gardens, as well as their significance to her life and work.

Since 1999, more than $3 million has been invested in the restoration of the historic gardens, and visitors today will see Wharton’s sunken Italian garden, lime walk of linden trees, flower garden, rock garden with unusual grass steps, fountains, and more. Garden tours are free with paid admission; the limit is 20, register on-site.

Garden tours weather permitting and subject to availability.
